Military Recreation Facility Ovčárna pod Pradědem

How to get to Ovčárna:

From Jeseník town (Poland…)

– follow route I/44 to Bělá pod Pradědem, turn left on the crossroads to road II/450 (direction Bruntál – Ostrava), in Vidly settlement turn right to Karlova Studánka. Do not enter the latter but continue straight on II/445 (direction Malá Morávka) to Hvězda parking area. The road Vidly – Karlova Studánka is not maintained in winter, therefore it is recommended to turn left in the former settlement to road II/451 (direction Vrbno pod Pradědem), right before Vrbno turn right to road II/445 and follow to Karlova Studánka. Pass through the spa village, at the end turn left and after approximately 400m you get to Hvězda. From there, Winter Survival participants in reported vehicles may continue uphill to Ovčárna. Due to limited parking capacity use the reported vehicles only! Parking is free, then.

From Šumperk town (west Czech Republic…)

– follow road I/11 to Rýmařov town but do not enter the town, continue in the direction to Bruntál and turn left on the crossroads at Malá Šťáhle village and follow the road II/445 through Malá Morávka village to Hvězda. From Hvězda to Ovčárna see above.

From Bruntál (Olomouc, Brno, Ostrava…)

– follow the road II/452 in the direction to Vrbno pod Pradědem and Jeseník, in Staré Město settlement turn left to road II/450, in Rudná pod Pradědem turn left to Malá Morávka, in Malá Morávka turn right to road II/445 in the direction to Karlova Studánka. You get to Hvězda parking area and from there follow the instructions above.

Shuttle bus

Due to limited parking capacity at Ovčárna up the hill, the common visitors are requested to leave their cars at the Hvězda parking lot and use regular shuttle bus transport going up to Ovčárna. The first bus leaves at 7.00 and then every hour till 16.50.
